There's a *Lot of Love* in This Room!

Message ID: 393906 Posted By: timransom@rogers.com Posted On: 2006-08-04 10:26:14 Subject: There's a *Lot of Love* in this room!!! Recs: 0 BahDuhBahDuh Dump BadahBump BadahBump BadahBump BadahBump etc! Wow! Now Wally is supposed to be DDT?! I don't mind saying that that is both the most retarded and amusing thing I've read here in a long time! Also, I haven't heard the "Bar used his *sorcery* to force Andy to change Yahouvre!" bull shit in *ages*! It must be a Classic Crock Weekend! GEEZUS! ... SWEET BABY GEEZUS! Kids: it's a *message board*! You know: little pixels forming vowels, consonants and punctuation! So Zen got canned. So what? How is Wally suddenly responsible for it, and how does this make him DDT?! That's *idiotic* unfocused acrimony. Wally didn't even report Zen for abuse. Other people did. Apparently enough that Yahoo stopped him. Big Deal. You've seen them once, you've seen them a hundred times.

Umm, see you in the funny papers

Quick! Someone bump up the Colonel's posts! Quick! Someone whine about it! Quick! Time for a rating war! What a shithole. The whole idea of 'negative rating' is just idiotic. Now, you can't simply ignore idiots, you must rate them down! You know damn well they're gonna do it to you! it made more sense to simply rec the posts you liked. A range of 1 to 5 is totally inadequate. Whatever... I'm going to be far to busy for this dump or any other time wasting places for a good while, so.... Good effin' riddance, Yahoo. ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Messag

Recs: 0 In a desperate legal gambit, SCOX attorneys have taken to self mutilation in response to the brutal mugging they suffered in Judge Wells' decision, which gutted 2/3rds of their suit against IBM. Their response appears to be calculated to invoke yet more wrath from the judge, as *each and every section in the TOC* of their filing starts with "The Judge erred..."!!! A Noted Footgun Expert was overheard to say: "*Whistle*! That's some gawdamn nice shootin'!" ------------------------------------------------------------ The text of this Yahoo Message Board post has been licensed for copying and distribution by the Yahoo Message Board user "timransom@rogers.com" under the following license: License:  CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v2.0 ---------------------------------------

The whole undercurrent of punk and new wave was fine, but it wasn't anywhere near the radio. I can't recall ever hearing the Buzzcocks, Magazine, PIL, Jah Wobble, Bauhaus, Killing Joke, etc etc on the radio. And there was the 80s blues renaissance, including Stevie Ray Vaughn, one of my favorite guitar players. So yes, there was actually a lot of very good music made in the 80s. Unfortunately, from the perspective local radio, only the worst dreck ever got played. Also, I hate the f*ck out of MTV, which I will always associate with the 80s. << Maybe your friends didn't get as emotionally attache

Isn't the interweb a wonderful thing! I was right though. Didn't even make the handbills :) To be honest, I can't remember much about it, and I certainly never met any of the stars. As I recall we'd played a private party in Luton or somewhere the night before. Then we played a wedding on a farm nearby (in Lincolnshire, that is) - in a huge greenhouse I think - then we did Spalding and then belted up the motorway to do Manchester Students Union the following evening. I was the lead singer - so I was entirely out of it the whole time. Singers are supposed to do that, apparently. Well, that's my excuse and I've been using it for 30 years. Looking at the date, it seems as though I should have been doing my 2nd year exams at the time. Goodness only knows how (o

But I think there actually WAS a ton of good music being made in the 80's. The problem was that a new "movement" was maturing but it was being completely ignored by the US music business. I remember my brother playing The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in his Zen Room with the quadrophonic speaker setup. I guess my friends and I were a bunch of anachronists, because they were all into the same thing. So there you have it: even a swaddling like myself at a tender 40 years of age had a Floyd soaked adolescence. Just shows to go you how miserable the 80s were when a whole generation had to look backwards to find music worth listening to.
