Wow, this is like, the most OT it can get, but here goes.

<< Just shows to go you how miserable the 80s were when a whole generation had to look backwards to find music worth listening to.>>

IMO, if you weren't into hair bands or Dance Music in the 80's, AND if you didn't go looking into what was being done in the UK, yeah...it sucked. But I think there actually WAS a ton of good music being made in the 80's. The problem was that a new "movement" was maturing but it was being completely ignored by the US music business. Alternative rock music was already old and mainstream in the UK in the 80's.

<< I have received several calls today from people I haven't seen in a while over this.>>

Yeah...I got a few emails too.

<< It is worth noting that none of these people called me when the guy from Nirvana died.>>

That's unfair. The music industry of the 90's wasn't even close to what it was then. Maybe your friends didn't get as emotionally attached to Nirvana, but none the less, Nirvana was at least as important to an entire generation of rock bands as Pink-Floyd was in the 70's. And as far as the industry goes, Nirvana was a lot more important.

Just my 0.02$
