Yeah, that Albini article is a classic. Having witnessed the soul crushing meat grinder destroying some of the finest talent you will never hear for over half of my life, I can safely say that I have a serious hate-on for the industry, which treats artists like a neccessary evil, and also for people who undervalue music itself.

For example, a guy I play with has a CD for sale on his site. He also offered mp3s of the tunes. After several months, we had sold around 20 CDs on the site, meanwhile there had been over *10,000* downloads of the tunes. After some hand wringing, he decided to take the mp3s down, considering that the CD sales weren't even covering the cost of keeping the site. After doing so, we got a flood of email from people irate at us for taking the free music down, yet almost none of them would fork over the ten measly bucks to own it. Now he's going to go with 30 second teasers with the next one. *sigh*

Support independent musicians! Go to their gigs. Buy their homegrown CDs - hell, the bulk of us ending up getting paid for gigs in beer tickets anyhow, so buying a CD might help defray the *cost* of playing live.

Let's hope this lady gets some results:
